MIGRATION, ENTERPRISE AND SOCIETY

Research Symposium

10th January 2018, 10-00 – 1630

Hosted by Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham

This symposium has been organised in conjunction with the Special Issue of the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research on the same topic, bringing together authors who are researching innovative approaches and aspects to forward our understanding of diverse manifestations of migrant enterprise.   This event aims to bring together scholars to engage in meaningful debates and discussions about diverse and alternative entrepreneurial individuals, processes and practices beyond the mainstream (Gartner, 2013) and in particular explore the varied and diverse forms of migrant entrepreneurship (Barrett and Vershinina, 2016, Rodgers et al. (forthcoming), Vershinina et al. 2011). The symposium organizers, with this event and the associated Special Issue, aim to contribute to key debates within the sub-field of migrant entrepreneurship. To this end, we invite interested authors to submit an extended abstract of no more than 800 words to the Symposium Organizers by 10th December 2017.

Timetable

The Special Issue is due to be published in 2019 and the following timetable should be noted.

  • Submission of an extended abstract (no more than 800 words) to the symposium organizers by 10th December 2017.
  • Feedback will be returned to authors by 18th December 2017.
  • Symposium to take place in Birmingham, 10th January 2018.
  • Submission of fully developed papers to the Special Issue by 28th February 2018.
