We are delighted to welcome four new trustees to the ISBE board, and look forward to their active participation in the Institute’s future strategy. We would also like to thank all those nominees who stood in what was a close-run election, and welcome their continued involvement with the Institute and in future elections.
The ISBE board meets at least quarterly to discuss and plan the ongoing development of the Institute, and always invites feedback from our membership whether at our AGM during the conference, as part of our annual year-end online survey, or at any time to email@example.com
Our new trustees bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the board.
Professor Laura Galloway
Professor Laura Galloway is Professor of Business & Enterprise at Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University. Professor Galloway’s background is in research into entrepreneurship and small business start-up and growth. Much of this research focuses on peripherality both regionally and demographically including examination of minority composition, their entrepreneurship-based economic contribution and the role of entrepreneurship in reducing social and economic barriers for peripheral groups. She has research interests also in the use and impact of ICT in entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship education.
“I am delighted to have been elected back on to the board of ISBE. I am a big supporter of the aims of ISBE and I am looking forward to working with everyone to develop it further”.
Professor Andrew Henley
Professor Andy Henley is Professor of Entrepreneurship and Economics and Director of Research Engagement and Impact at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University. Much of Andy’s research focuses on questions of who chooses to become an entrepreneur, and why and where they choose to do so. He is particularly interested in applications of longitudinal data. His research also focuses on entrepreneurial leadership and small business growth. He has published over 60 papers in leading academic journals in entrepreneurship, economics and regional studies, as well as contributing to several recent edited books.
“I am delighted to be joining the ISBE Board. Innovative and entrepreneurial business activity has never been more important to the future of the economy. I am very much looking forward to helping ISBE build on its reputation as the leading voice for research, policy and educational thinking in entrepreneurship and small business. I hope very much that I can support ISBE over the next few years to enhance this role further”.
Dr Jun Li
Dr Jun Li is a Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Essex Business School, University of Essex. He previously held post at Chinese Academy of Sciences and was the President of Chinese Economic Association (UK/Europe) in 2012-2013. He currently also serves as Editor of Journal of Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies. He teaches and researches in the areas of entrepreneurship and policies, innovation management, and Chinese entrepreneurship.
“I am delighted to be elected to join the ISBE board. My thoughts about ISBE are: ISBE can focus on two new directions over the next two years of promoting experimental approach to entrepreneurship policy and promoting cross-border public policy learning”.
Dr Kayleigh Watson
Dr Kayleigh Watson is Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at Northumbria University. Kayleigh’s main research area concerns the promotion of start-up competitions as an entrepreneurial learning experience. Her doctoral research explored Business Plan Competition participation from the perspective of the nascent entrepreneur participant, this involved employing an approach which captured participant narratives before, immediately after and six months after competition participation. This work has formed the basis for the production of papers for journal publication and presentation at international conferences; whilst also compelling a wider impetus for consideration of how competition provision might be reimagined going forward.
“I’m really excited to have been elected to join the ISBE board. I look forward to contributing to the activities and agendas of the institute as well as being part of its continued evolution over the coming years”.
