Dr Michelle Phillips

Dr Michelle Phillips is Head of Enterprise (Academic) and a senior lecturer in music psychology at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, UK. From 2020-2022 she was the Principal Investigator (project lead) on the StART Entrepreneurship Project, which received £902k of funding from the Office for Students and Research England, with partners University of the Arts London and Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Her research focusses on music perception, music and time, music and maths, and most recently on audience response and music and Parkinson’s. Along with publishing in leading journals, Michelle published a co-edited book on Music and Time in 2022. During her PhD studies in the Centre for Music and Science at the University of Cambridge, Michelle taught on the University of Cambridge Business School’s Enterprisers Bootcamp. Michelle is also a chartered accountant and a saxophonist.
