Jerry Allen

As UCL Director of Entrepreneurship, Jerry is privileged to nurture the vast entrepreneurial talent that exists among students, researchers, staff and the alumni network to showcase UCL entrepreneurship.

Each year UCL generates about 70 new startups building a growing community at BaseKX our dedicated incubation and acceleration space.

The current focus is on developing entrepreneurial mindsets amongst the doctoral student and researcher community both within UCL and now further afield. It is poised ready to grow this untapped entrepreneurial potential.

Since in 2017, the UCL entrepreneurship team have increased the quality and quantity of UCL startups by 120%, jobs created by 237%, investment by 271% and the total number of active firms by 75%. It has proved to be a remarkable journey.

In 2019, Jerry was invited to advise on refugee entrepreneurship at the United Nations.

Previously, he created several successful European Projects, raising over €6m to promote innovation and enterprise latterly amongst social innovation and entrepreneurship amongst refugee groups. Prior to joining UCL, Jerry was Deputy Director of Enterprise at Greenwich University and founder of 7 startups.
