As an Early Career Researcher it is very common to feel as though you are trying to balance many competing demands on your time and that your writing might be suffering as a consequence. Attending a writing retreat can be highly motivational and help build vital confidence to overcome the writing challenges currently being faced. It can provide valuable time and space to immerse yourself in your writing away from the distractions of everyday life. As well as an opportunity to develop writing competence, network and share your work and writing challenges with other ECRs in a supportive and pressure-free environment.

About this Retreat

The retreat will take place April 26-29, 2019 at the Anam Cara Writers and Artists Retreat in Eyeries, County Cork, Ireland. The Anam Cara retreat is a very peaceful and inspirational setting in which to engage with your writing. Each of the private bedrooms at the retreat has a comfortable work station; in addition there are many communal indoor and outdoor spaces which can be used for writing. Additionally, the retreat has its own hot-tub, sauna, and many excellent walking/hiking opportunities on the doorstep which provide perfect opportunities to think about and reflect upon your writing.

This all-inclusive residential retreat will provide participants with individual writing sessions, peer support and feedback opportunities, social meal times and group coaching sessions. It is intended that the small size of the retreat group will enable rich peer learning to take place during the retreat, but also kick-start opportunities for post-retreat collaborations to take place within the community of practice created.
