ISBE 2019 workshop – Bringing the Real World into your Entrepreneurship Classroom: The Potential of Case Studies

12.30pm – 2pm, Friday, November the 15th
Locomotion 1 Suite, Crowne Plaza Newcastle

Facilitator: Scott Andrews

The Case Centre is the independent home of the case method. We offer case training for students and lecturers at business schools and universities worldwide. The case method of learning is the favoured teaching approach for MBA students and executives at the world’s leading business schools, and is increasingly being used by undergraduate students. Case studies enable students to analyse, reflect and discuss real life entrepreneurs and their businesses to help bring student learning alive.

This interactive workshop will cover the following areas:

  • Why teach with cases?
  • Teaching approaches; the student experience.
  • Entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship and cases; the person and the process.
  • Different types of cases – long, short, video, ‘illustrated’.
  • What works for you and your students?
  • Sourcing and writing cases

A number of different cases will be used in the workshop to illustrate the various topics and themes and there will be plenty of opportunity for sharing experiences and insights – both with the tutor and between participants. To this end, a small amount of pre-reading will be distributed in advance to registered participants so they can prepare for the workshop.

The intended outcome is that you become more aware of the potential of cases in your teaching – and the various types of cases and case material you might use – and more confident and committed to use them.

Workshop participant numbers are limited to 30. Please secure your place as soon as possible by emailing
