ISBE Appoint new Deputy President

The Board of ISBE are delighted to announce that Professor Gideon Maas of Coventry University has been appointed to serve as Deputy President of the Institute. Nominations for the role are invited from the ISBE Board and Gideon received unanimous approval. Gideon will also continue to serve in his current role of VP Policy and Practice until his tenure expires at the end of this year.

Gideon has been a trustee of ISBE since November 2014 and Vice President from January 2016. His agenda has focused on continuing to strengthen the Institute’s links with policy makers and with the world of practice. He is currently organizing a policy-centred workshop day for ISBE in July at Coventry.

The Deputy President is expected to understudy the work of the President and, where appropriate, will be expected to deputise for the President in chairing of business meetings of the Board of Trustees or the Executive Board, representing the Institute to the wider membership and the Institute’s public on behalf of the President, and in providing counsel to the President on the progress of the affairs of the Institute.

The Deputy is responsible for working with the President in preparation for assuming the role of President at the end of the President’s tenure of office.

A warm welcome to Gideon in his new role.
