About the event
This event will demystify the publishing process for ECRs interested in publishing in the field of family business. Dr Salmon will provide her perspective as an ECR on publishing in the field of family business. Professor Seaman and Professor Powell, two experienced journal editors, will join us to explain their perspectives on publishing. The event will provide practical hints and tips for how to get your research published in a reputable journal.

-     Welcome, introductions – each participant to state what they want to learn from the event
2.    Dr Udeni Salmon (10 minutes) an ECR’s view of the publishing process:
-     How to deal with negative comments
-     Tips for addressing comments (e.g. create table of reviewers’ comments and how each comment has been addressed; suggest referees)
3.    Claire Seaman (20 minutes)
-     Choosing a journal
-     An editor’s eye view of the publishing process
-     Sourcing a pool of referees
-     Publishing for international students
4.    Abigail Powell (20 minutes)
-     Benefits of publishing in an open access journal
-     Hints and tips for good publishing practice for ECRs
5.    Q&A (20 minutes)
-     Udeni to check that each participant has met their learning objectives for the event
