The Institute for Sustainable Practice, Innovation, Research and Enterprise (INSPIRE) delivers central support for innovation, research and enterprise to all academic and professional departments across UWTSD. INSPIRE staff provide intelligence to the University’s research and knowledge exchange teams on external funding calls and support the development of funding bids. INSPIRE provides support for staff, students and alumni looking to spin-out new enterprises and works with funding bodies such as HEFCW and the Welsh and UK Governments to monitor their progress. INSPIRE seeks to ensure all new developments address the University’s strategic commitments to the Wales’ Civic Mission Framework and Wellbeing of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015. INSPIRE fosters a sustainable development approach to innovation, research and enterprise by supporting the global transition to a post-carbon economy and is committed to working in partnership to help achieve this objective.
The Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Officer will be attached to the International Institute for Creative Entrepreneurial Development (IICED) which is a focal point for the University’s Enterprise (skills such as creative problem solving) and Entrepreneurship (self-employment and start–up) activities. It is recognized internationally as a leading contributor to research and practice, ‘Future Proofing Education’ developing creative capacity for innovation, enhancing employability, stimulating business start-up, and sustainability and growth.
The post holder will be required to work across the University to champion and support the academic development and delivery of entrepreneurial education (enterprise and entrepreneurship education). This academic role is funded via a collaborative partnership between the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and the University of South Wales, through the HEFCW Higher Education Investment and Recovery Fund, which includes the development of a Postgraduate Certificate in Enterprise Skills, delivered online by both institutions. The post holder will be required to work collaboratively to develop content that is informed by multidisciplinary approaches, using a range of innovative teaching, learning and assessment strategies, cognisant of equality, diversity and inclusion Welsh University graduates and Welsh domiciled graduates who choose to start their own businesses will be supported through the network of incubators across both institutions. The post holder will undertake scholarship, research and training as a component of this project work, either individually or within a team, to ensure ongoing professional development and to enhance the profile of the IICED.
