We are very pleased to welcome Dr Udeni Salmon and Dr James Cunningham as the new Co-Chairs of the ISBE Family Business SIG, and look forward to building on the great work that SIG Founder Professor Claire Seaman and more recent Co-Chair Professor Natalia Vershinina have accomplished over the past three years. The group has grown to over 200 members from institutions globally, and has an active events programme. “Dr Cunningham and Dr Salmon are delighted to be appointed to the roles of Co-Chair for the ISBE Family Business SIG. They are both interested in developing early career researchers in the SIG, particularly those from the Global South, and in encouraging an inclusive and nurturing research environment. They hope to extend the family business conversation to a broader audience, including interdisciplinary research beyond the business school in order to include topics such as family relations, migration, criminology and politics.
Dr James Cunningham has been researching small family businesses for over 10 years. His work has appeared in both specialist family business journals, such as Family Business Review, and more mainstream outlets like the International Journal of Human Resource Management. Following an extensive career in the private and voluntary sector, Dr Udeni Salmon received her family business oriented PhD from the University of Salford in 2017. She is keen to promote a greater focus on gender and race in family business research. Udeni and James would like to thank the outgoing Chairs, Professor Claire Seaman and Professor Natalia Vershinina, for their leadership and support over the years”.
