The post will be based in Aston Business School, where two of three Centres involved in this ESRC project – the Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship (CREME) and the Enterprise Research Centre ERC – are also located. The post holder will support the team, led by Professor Monder Ram, responsible for the ESRC-funded ‘Productivity from Below: Addressing the Productivity Challenges of Microbusinesses’ project, which comprises researchers from the University of Birmingham and Warwick as well as Aston Business School. The project investigates management practices in micro-businesses in the West Midlands, and aims to devise solutions in conjunction with support agencies to boost productivity in such firms.
The candidates should be a post-graduate (preferably a Phd) with experience of research in entrepreneurship, small firms, and/or human resource management/employment relations
The main duties will be to:
• Work with the Principal and Co-Investigators on all stages of project.
• Assist in all aspects of the project, including preparation of proposals, literature reviews, fieldwork and report-writing.
• Present the results of the work at project meetings, seminars and conferences.
• Work closely with the project team and non-academic partner.
The candidate should have excellent analytical skills, and be able ability to design and conduct academic and policy research small firms/entrepreneurship, or human resource management/industrial relations. Candidates skilled in conducting qualitative research are particularly encouraged
