Thoughts on ISBE2021 by ISBE Outgoing President Professor Kiran Trehan

The ISBE conference is at the heart of the ISBE community, this year more than ever the community seized the opportunity and played their part, despite the challenges of Covid ,the turbulent times we have all faced.  Our shared sense of purpose exemplified  our sense of community. The conference was a sharp reminder of the inspirational work that we have all been engaged in during the pandemic. Each contribution from the papers, keynotes, and panel debates celebrated, critically challenged, and illuminated the richness and diversity of ideas and thinking. We explored, we debated, we laughed and most of all our commitment to illuminating the unprecedented strain on small business never faltered. Our desire to make a difference, to influence policy and practice, to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions of a diverse range of entrepreneurs and  illuminate how Productivity, Place and collaboration foster a culture, which inspires entrepreneurial ambition, delivers economic and social prosperity. This collectivism made this year’s conference very special, collectively we created a  movement that was inclusive, encompassed different voice and put the next generation of ISBE scholars at the very heart of ISBE. Thank you for all the hard work, passion and commitment that made this conference possible and special. We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible to the 2022 ISBE conference in York.
