Distinguished Professor Alistair Anderson from Lancaster University Management School’s Entrepreneurship and Strategy department sadly passed away last week.

Professor Anderson was a leading entrepreneurship academic and an outstanding scholar of international standing. Through his passion and dedication to entrepreneurship – and served by his rich and rewarding career – Alistair made a major contribution to the field; enriching our understanding of entrepreneurship as it stands today.

Before joining academia, Alistair was a serial entrepreneur running a number of businesses – from pubs, to quality knitwear manufacturing, to building houses and property development. A true passion for entrepreneurship – both in its practice and research – ran through his veins.

Professor Anderson published more than 150 articles and book chapters and received more than 15771 citations of his work throughout his lifetime. He also led the development of a key journal in the field – Entrepreneurship and Regional Development – for 12 years, playing a significant role in building the international entrepreneurship community.

As well as being an internationally renowned scholar, Alistair was an exceptional colleague and friend within the ISBE community, as an ISBE fellow Alistair will be remembered for his immense contribution to the field and his generosity of spirit. Alistair will be greatly missed by us all at ISBE.

Alistair’s family have set up a “Just Giving” page for anyone who would like to make a donation in his memory. Money is being raised for the Widows of Okansey Kope in Ghana – a project very close to Alistair’s heart: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/AlistairAnderson
