The Department of Management at the University of Birmingham is seeking to appoint an outstanding Associate Professor (Research and Education) in Entrepreneurship and Innovation with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Creativity
  • Design and innovation
  • Digital communities
  • Digital technology and innovation
  • New business models and innovation
  • Sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who can join us as Associate Professor and make significant contributions to the research and education excellence of our university.

The Department of Management has a collegial culture, with over 80 faculty organised across four subject groups: Procurement and Operations Management; Organisation, Work and Employment; Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Innovation; and Business, Economics and Policy. Research networks flourish within and across subject Groups, with research centres situated in the Department, across the School and connected to the University’s Institutes, for example, Interdisciplinary Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. The Department has a strong and supportive research culture, with regular seminars, reading groups and a healthy PhD programme. Early Career faculty are particularly supported with developing teaching and research.

The post holder will become a member of the Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Innovation (ELI) Group within the Department of Management and will compliment and strengthen these particular research and education strengths in the group. The ELI Group has recently launched a new MSc linking developments in entrepreneurship and innovation thinking and technology to the overarching desire and need for sustainability and social purpose. This sits alongside related and significant contributions to our undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA teaching portfolio.

The successful candidate will undertake research of international excellence and contribute to knowledge exchange activities relative to their discipline. The successful candidate may also undertake leadership and service activities in line with the Department, School and College’s strategic priorities.

The candidate will have a PhD, or one close to completion, in a relevant discipline.
